Walla Walla Washington GFRC Projects

Stromberg GFRC at Walla Walla University

Stromberg GFRC at Walla Walla University

Stromberg GFRC at Walla Walla University

In 2005, Walla Walla University, a small liberal arts college  in College Place, Washington, was in need of a new administration building. The school was founded in 1892, and after over a hundred years, it was time for the school to grow again. However, Walla Walla University understood the importance of keeping new construction architecturally similar to the old architecture on campus, so they called Stromberg Architectural to make use of their world famous GFRC.

A New Beginning with Stromberg

For the Walla Walla University administration building project, Stromberg Architectural provided GFRC columns and cornices that were in keeping with the visual and architectural aesthetic of the rest of the campus. Matching the architectural style of other buildings can be a challenge, but Stromberg makes it easy. That’s because the master craftsmen at Stromberg are so competent with their usage of GFRC, that they can emulate virtually any building material and architectural style with this unique product.

Stromberg GFRC Products are Built to Last

All of Stromberg’s GFRC Products are built to endure the elements and look great for years. Like all other GFRC products from Stromberg, the columns and cornices at Walla Walla University will be able to stand up to freezing cold and sweltering heat without cracking. They will be able to endure hurricane strength winds, pounding hail and even acidic rain. Their administration building may be new, but it is a living classic that will surely be around for ages.

Why Choose Stromberg GFRC?

  • Decades of experience completing large and small GFRC projects on time and within budget
  • Knowledge of many architectural styles, including Federal, Beaux Arts, and Art Deco
  • Durable GFRC elements that can withstand severe weather and environments with salt spray and acid rain

GFRC Renovation in Canton, Ohio

St. Peter’s Church GFRC Renovation by Stromberg

GFRC Renovation at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Canton, Ohio

GFRC Renovation at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Canton, Ohio

Stromberg’s artisans, craftsmen and architects are truly a talented group of individuals, and when it comes to GFRC renovation, they are some of the best in the world. When they heard about how talented Stromberg Architectural is at GFRC renovation and restoration, St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canton, Ohio, knew that Stromberg would be perfect for renovating their church while sticking to the original design. Stromberg’s mastery of GFRC renovation allows them to restore architecture to its original glory, and the best part is that their renovations are virtually undetectable due to their seamless matching of color and texture.

Undetectable GFRC Renovation by Stromberg Architectural

GFRC is an incredibly versatile material, but in the hands of an expert crew, GFRC can imitate nearly any other building material. St. Peter’s in Canton has a unique appearance due to its gray, chunky stone exterior. This old world-inspired aesthetic can be difficult and expensive to repair since masons who can work in this style are few and far between. However, thanks to the ingenuity of Stromberg Architectural, St. Peter’s was able to get a first rate renovation that perfectly matches the original architecture, making the repairs seem invisible.

GFRC Renovations by Stromberg will Last for Ages

Another admirable quality of Stromberg’s GFRC restoration work is that these are fixes that are meant to last. GFRC is an incredibly sturdy material that can stand up to all kinds of environmental punishment that would beat down and erode lesser materials. GFRC can withstand extreme temperature fluctuations, vicious winds, acidic rain and even kinetic impacts that would destroy other building materials. With Stromberg Architectural, you don’t get a temporary fix, you get a lasting solution.

GFRC Advantages Over Traditional Concrete

  • GFRC elements weigh a fraction of those made with precast
  • The glass fiber reinforcement means there is no metal to rust or corrode
  • A practically endless number of GFRC shapes, textures, and sizes

New Haven GFRC Renovation at Pierce Laboratory

New Haven GFRC Renovation at the Pierce Laboratory

New Haven GFRC Renovation at Pierce Laboratory

Founded in 1933, this Yale affiliated research institute specializes in cardiovascular biology, circulation, energy metabolism and sensory neuroscience, but in 1992, it was in dire need of renovation. Enter Stromberg Architectural, a Texas based architectural firm that specializes in glass fiber reinforced concrete, or GFRC. GFRC is a light-weight and versatile building material, which was perfect for new, long lasting renovations that were in aesthetic keeping with the original building.

GFRC Renovation by Stromberg

Stromberg is your one stop shop for GFRC architectural elements, and the Pierce Laboratory in New Haven is a great example of the diversity of their GFRC products. Stromberg supplied cornice molding, urns, threshold, wall cap, pier cap, coping, panels, keystones, a chimney cap, sills, fascia and heads. Nearly all of Stromberg’s GFRC products arrived at the site pre-fabricated and ready to install, making the renovation quick and easy.

Preserve your Style with Stromberg GFRC Products

One of the most impressive strengths of the master craftsmen at Stromberg Architectural is their ability to fabricate GFRC products perfectly to specification. Their mastery of the material, years of expertise and use of advanced software, like CAD, means that they can create custom architectural elements that work perfectly with any style of building. Their New Haven GFRC renovation project at the Pierce Laboratory represents strong evidence of this skill since it is nearly impossible to differentiate the original architecture from what was added by Stromberg in 1992.

Features and Benefits of GFRC

  • GFRC is lighter than concrete.
  • GFRC is significantly more resistant to erosion than concrete.
  • GFRC is more resistant to concussive force, making it less likely to chip if struck.
  • GFRC can endure extremely hot and cold temperatures.

Providing GFRC to all of Connecticut and New England

GFRC Brickwork at Time Square Hershey Store

Authentic Brickwork in Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete

Authentic Looking GFRC Bricks at the Hershey Store in Times Square.

Located in one of the busiest and most famous commercial centers in the world, the Hershey’s store in Times Square has a quiet secret. The stressed, authentic brickwork is not actually made from bricks! Rather, it is made from a unique building material called GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete).

Project Challenges and the Stromberg Solution

In 2002, the architects who designed the Hershey’s store in Times Square were faced with a design question: how do you make an authentic, early 20th century building without the problems inherent to early 20th century building materials? Traditional bricks, though sturdy, are difficult to work with, and have a tendency to disintegrate over time. Moreover, they are heavy and require an equally heavy-duty foundation. These are major impediments to building a lasting structure in Times Square, but Stromberg Architectural had a solution: GFRC. GFRC bricks are lightweight, high impact, and will not swell, disintegrate or rot over time. However, despite these modern conveniences, they can be designed and installed to be a perfect facsimile to the real thing.

Authentic Brick Masonry in GFRC Costs Less

Traditional brick masonry is a complex, multi-staged process that requires expert bricklayers. Due to the specialized nature of the task, brick masonry can get expensive, quick. Not only is it expensive, but it is a timing sensitive craft. The bricks have to be cemented at exactly the right time in suitable weather conditions. This extra element of timing coordination is a logistical nightmare for foremen when they are trying to organize their jobsite. Bricks in GFRC from Stromberg Architectural are easily installed under any conditions. They do not require specialists to install, and they do not require special timing or any other coordination. This convenience is a relief, not only for your planner, but also your checkbook.

The Many Benefits of Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete

  • GFRC constructs are water tight and will not leak or take on water.
  • Stromberg can custom-build a near perfect reproduction of any masonry from bricks to stones.
  • Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete is weather resistant and will not rot or dissolve over time.

World Class Architecture from Stromberg

No matter what manner of architectural conundrum you might find yourself faced with, Stromberg Architectural Products has a solution. Wyoming GFRC Projects

Wyoming Area GFRC Projects

Western Region GFRC Projects: Fendi, Las Vegas, Nevada

Of all the states that make up the great country of America, Wyoming is the one that is home to the fewest people. With its vast areas of wilderness and park lands, it’s quite accurate to describe parts of Wyoming as the “Wild West” even today.

Wyoming has its fair share of remarkable architecture, particularly considering its small population. A Corinthian-style state capitol as well as more modest historic homes, hotels, and stores are all found in the Cowboy State.

To add another notable work to the state, or to preserve the work of an architect that came before, consider using glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC). Its versatility allows for seamless repairs when it is matched to an existing structure, as well as new looks, shapes, and textures that are limited only by the imagination.

Elements For Your Wyoming GFRC Project

Stromberg Architectural has the capacity to complete Wyoming GFRC projects of any size and scope. We can supply dozens of GFRC elements to our clients in Wyoming and other parts of the United States. Using molds, we can create a one-of-a-kind GFRC dome or produce hundreds of matching glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) wall caps. Some other selections from our product line include:

  • GFRC entryways
  • GFRC pergolas
  • GFRC railing and GFRC balustrade
  • GFRC signage
  • GFRC quoins
  • GFRC fountains and GFRC fountain pools

Alaska GFRC Projects

Alaska Area GFRC Projects

Pacific Region GFRC Projects: Medford Library, Medford, Oregon

Although Alaska is the largest state in the country, this part of the Great White North is also the least densely populated. Temperatures in parts of Alaska can fall to below -60 degrees Fahrenheit during the long winter months. The buildings in Alaska–like the people–need to be rugged to thrive.
The GFRC used by Stromberg Architectural is durable enough to be installed outdoors year-round, yet attractive enough to grace the interiors of the most luxurious homes, hotels, and resorts around.

Alaska GFRC Services Provided by Stromberg Architectural

Our Alaska GFRC services include both new construction and GFRC renovation/restoration.
Stromberg can help clients in Alaska create or improve an exterior or interior design by crafting totally new elements in an array of shapes, textures, and colors. Choose from literally dozens of products, including GFRC security bollards, GFRC benches, GFRC fireplaces, and GFRC signage. We aren’t exaggerating when we say we have the largest selection of GFRC on Earth.
If time and the harsh weather conditions of Alaska have damaged a beloved community building, business, or home, Stromberg can use GFRC to achieve a seamless match for a variety of materials. In this way, we can perform GFRC restorations or repairs that blend in with the rest of the structure. Our GFRC restoration process also allows us to preserve as much of the original structure as possible.

Advantages of Using GFRC for Your Next Project in Alaska

  • Suitable for outdoor use, even in areas with severe weather and freeze-thaw cycles
  • Will not rust, rot, or corrode when exposed to moisture
  • Can be placed in coastal regions of Alaska since it can withstand exposure to salt spray
  • Many possible looks and styles to create the effect you want

Stromberg Architectural is Here to Help, Wherever You Are in Alaska. We Provide:

Anchorage GFRC, Juneau gfrc, GFRC Fairbanks, College GFRC, Sitka GFRC, Ketchikan GFRC, Knik GFRC, Kenai GFRC, Lakes GFRC, Kodiak GFRC, and more.

New Mexico GFRC Projects

New Mexico Area GFRC

Western Region GFRC: Castle Pines, Castle Rock, Colorado

A large proportion of the population in this land of mountains, plains, and deserts is of Spanish and Native American descent. It’s not just the land forms and the people here that are intriguing, though. The “Land of Enchantment” also has architectural works that are quite different from anything else you’ll find in the United States. Many buildings are constructed in the unmistakable Pueblo style, and have a distinct Southwest flair.

The original Pueblo homes were built from bricks made of a mixture of grass and clay, but today advanced composites such as the GFRC used by Stromberg Architectural can be used to achieve a very similar look. If you choose to partner with Stromberg, we will work closely with you during your GFRC New Mexico project, taking the time to thoroughly understand your vision so the end result will be perfect down to every last detail.
